The Russian-Russian War Between the U.S. and Ukraine is Up In The Air: A Reply to Vladimir Zelenskyy

Zelenskyy said that Putin had broken previous deals. “He broke the ceasefire, he killed our people … what kind of diplomacy, JD, you are speaking about? What do you mean?” said Ukraine’s president, who has been seeking greater security assurances as part of any deal to end the war.

“I’m not aligned with anybody. Trump stated that he was aligned with the United States of America and would like to get this thing over with.

The argument came at the end of a lengthy question-and-answer session with reporters, after Trump defended his approach with Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying he was trying to broker a deal between two parties.

A potential deal between the United States and Ukraine intended to pave the way for an end to the war with Russia was up in the air Friday, after a meeting between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Oval Office on Friday grew contentious.

Trump told Zelenskyy “you’re not acting at all thankful” for the support his country had received from the United States, adding the Ukrainian leader had been disrespectful, and telling him, “you’re gambling with World War III.”

Zelenskyy was accused of trying to “litigate” this in front of the American media and of being ungrateful for campaigning for the Democrats in Pennsylvania.

The Security Guarantees Agreement for the Petrovskoy Anatolian Fund During the Cold War II: Ukrainian-Ukrainian Controversy

“During the war, everybody has problems, even you. You have a nice ocean, but don’t feel it. But you will feel it in the future. Zelenskyy said, with his arms crossed, that he would not have war. President Trump interjected by saying, “Don’t tell us what we’re gonna feel. We are trying to solve a problem.

Ukraine would have contributed to the fund half of its revenues from the future monetization of natural resources and associated infrastructure, such as liquefied natural gas terminals and port infrastructure

In a second phase, the two countries would need to negotiate a more detailed plan to set up the fund. Zelensky has said that the Parliament of Ukraine needs to approve this second agreement. Mr. Zelensky said that it was important to him. “Between the first step and the second step, we need to understand where we stand with the United States.”

The New York Times obtained a copy of the agreement that stated that the US supported Ukraine in its effort to get security guarantees. Previous drafts did not include the phrase.

Mr. Trump said he would not give security guarantees beyond a certain amount. “We’re going to have Europe do that.”
