WIRED: Amazon Prime Day Part 2: Where are the Best AirPods, Galaxy Buds 2 Pro and Airpods Pro earbuds?
The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro and second-generation AirPods Pro put up a good fight when in the same ring. At $230 and $249 respectively, they’re some of the best earbuds you can get for the money.
The Speck Presidio case with a soft-touch coating comes in black, although the listing calls it black with bright silver. The exterior of the case is covered in a coating that makes it very soft to the touch. The case does have a carabiner that should suffice, but it lacks a cutout for the charging case’s lanyard loop.
Like their predecessors, the Pro 2 will still carry the same steep $249 price tag, but if you order right now on Amazon, you’ll save $10. It is rare to see a brand new Apple drop with any other items, so it is best to get a pair before this discount ends.

WIRED: A Top List of Best Amazon Prime Day Laptops – Techdeals for Hybrid Workers and Students (I): The Gram, the 12th-generation MacBook Air and the 16-inch model
Most people just need a laptop even if the Surface Laptop range isn’t as stylish as other sets of the brand. This is our pick for the best Surface for most people. The flagship Microsoft laptop is now under $1,000 and has 16 or 32 bits of disk space and 256 bits of disk space. You can read about the new Surface Pro 5 here, but it is worth remembering that Microsoft just announced it.
WIRED Recommends the MacBook Pro model, it received a strong review. We like it for its high-end performance, stunning display, premium build quality, and the welcome return of MagSafe. This isn’t cheap but you might be able to afford it.
The first M1 MacBook Air (9/10, WIRED Recommends) was a revelation. The fanless design of the device allowed it to be used with strong productivity and top battery. It’s now under $800.
The version of this laptop we really like, and the one we recommend is the Intel model. The combo of an 11th-gen Intel Core i7 chip with 8 gigabytes of memory, 512-gigabyte of storage and a fast 4th generation sally port is great for hybrid workers or students. The OLED display is bright and crisp too.
This laptop is one of the best laptops on the market, with a new 12th-gen Intel chip. The 16-inch version of this device sits in our Best Laptops guide. The Gram range prides itself on being supremely light and, as it’s the smallest version, you’ll barely notice this machine in your bag. The rest of the specs include 16 GB of RAM and a 512-GB SSD, a strong combo for serious productivity.
One of the best laptop stands we’ve found is this one, which allows you to work from a bed or couch. Our reviewer liked how the offer section could stay flat for morning coffee and note-taking, but the part of the stand that could be adjusted to a suitable angle could be used more for note-taking.

The Wired Recommendations: Gaming at a Price almost 300 off the Crypthian S$_2$5
You might not have thought about the idea of including an SSD in your dongle, but it’s a great way to kill two birds with one stone. The main attraction of the device is its ability to add an M.2 solid-state drive, which makes it ideal for on-the-go storage.
Many MacBooks still feature a limited number of ports, and this is a great add-on to expand your connectivity horizons. You can find all the ports you need for just $50, including a 2xUSB-C port, 2xusb-a port, and 1xHDMI port.
If you got used to more than one display while WFH-bound during the pandemic but are now required to be on the go once again, a slim portable monitor is a great option. This model is plastic and the display is not very strong. But its reasonably priced, super compact, and has a convenient kickstand.
The WIRED Recommends are one of the best gaming laptops in the world with a great screen and typing experience. This model packs a punch in a simple build. There are plenty of ports too. It’s hard to find a better performance-to-value ratio in the same price range.
This laptop from Acer is delightfully sleek but manages to keep the price down. The Swift 3 comes with a high-end 11th Gen Core i7 chip, 8 GB of RAM, and a 256-GB SSD, a lot of horsepower at this low price. The battery life was great, as well as a good selection of ports.
With consoles like the Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, and Steam Deck around, gaming laptops can look pretty expensive. But if you want strong PC specs and a great display in a portable package, they remain the only option. All of this is offered at almost $300 off by the Dell G15. It packs in one of Intel’s latest gaming chips alongside 16 GB of RAM, a 512-GB SSD, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060, which is an ideal combo for mid-tier PC gaming.
If you want a cheap laptop with some added flexibility, this 14-inch Pavilion machine from HP is an appealing option. The 11th-Gen Intel Core i5 is offered with this sale, along with 8 gigabyte of system memory and a 128-gigabyte hard drive. It makes sense for a productivity user, such as students. The laptop is a bit more comfortable with the 360-hinge.
There are a lot of people who want to push the Chromebooks hard. For that, the IdeaPad Flex 5i is our top choice for a ChromeOS powerhouse in our Best Chromebooks guide. There are a lot of choices when it comes to the amount of performance you can get from a Chromebook, with options for Intel Core i3 and 8 bing of ram, as well as lower powered Celeron chips and often 4 bing of RAM. The display also offers an anti-glare finish.

The Combo Touch from Logitech: A Low-Price Deal for a New iPad and a High-Performance Pencil
The Combo Touch from Logitech is compatible with a variety of 11-inch iPad Pro generations. It adds a keyboard and a trackpad, which is our favorite way to do light work. The iPad Pro’s slim case and attractive keys make it a perfect choice when you don’t need a keyboard, but you do need it when you do.
The WIRED Recommendation is that the most powerful iPad Air is the one with the same M1 processor as the iPad Pro and the MacBook Air. This is the lowest price we’ve seen yet.
The slimmed-down iPad Mini boosted performance to Apple’s small tablets. There’s also convenient Touch ID, USB-C charging, a front camera with Apple’s Center Stage, and support for the second-gen Apple Pencil.
For most people, this is a good deal on the iPad. In fact, it’s the lowest price we’ve seen. The iPad has been updated by Apple around this time of year for the past three years. A new model that could be on sale for Black Friday could be soon.
Amazon recently debuted a new Fire HD 8 that is available for preorder. But if you’re in the market for a cheap tablet, this 2020 model is still a good deal. The travel-friendly size and powerful processor make the Fire HD 8 series nearly as capable as their larger siblings. The Fire HD 8 is portable enough to take with you anywhere, and its screen won’t torture your eyes when you watch Netflix. We have a guide that will install the play store in a way that is more capable than its out of the box counterpart.
It’s the best inexpensive phone on the market, and it has earned our top choice as the Best Cheap Phone. This deal is the lowest we’ve seen. Even when it’s not on sale, the Pixel 6A offers incredible value, with great performance, excellent cameras, impressive battery life, and a nice display. This is a good deal if you are in the market for a new phone. The Pixel 6 Pro is also discounted to $649 ($250 off) if you want a bigger device and better cameras.
You can receive a free $100 Amazon gift card if you Pre-order the new product from the retailer for the same price. We will have our review up soon, but you can learn more about the new device here and read our review.

The cheapest price of a smartphone? The 128 GB OnePlus 10 Pro is the best price tag ever seen on the S22 Ultra
This is the lowest price that we have ever seen on the S22 Ultra. This device has an S Pen built in, so it’s great for doodling or writing notes. It also has a 10x optical zoom camera, so you can take stunningly sharp pictures from far away.
It costs a lot. But it folds down! And believe it or not, that extra screen real estate really is nice. Improved multitasking is one of the reasons that life is easier on a bigger screen. A bright, smooth screen is visible on the battery life, and no crease on the fold.
The smaller of Samsung’s folding phones, the Z Flip4 feels like a “normal” phone when it’s unfolded, but fold it up and it’ll slip into some small pockets. It’s almost like a StarTak, but with a real screen. The battery will get you through the day, but not much longer. Still, if you’ve been wanting a folding phone, this deal is the cheapest we’ve seen.
If you are looking for a phone that is not the norm from the other manufacturers, you might want to check out the 128gigabyte OnePlus 10 Pro, which is currently on sale. Normally $799.99, Amazon has discounted the impressive smartphone to $549.99, matching its lowest price yet. The 10 Pro isn’t great but offers some impressive specifications along with most of the flagship features at a relatively low price point. While the camera array isn’t quite as powerful as those seen on flagship phones from Samsung or Apple, the 10 Pro still offers excellent performance thanks to its Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and 8GB of RAM. There aren’t many phones that can match the overall performance of theoster 10 pro in this price range so it’s worth a look if you want to keep your current phone. Please read our review.
Ugreen: a low-cost, ultra-high-performance ultra-portable TV for kids and adults with Dolby Atmos
This Ugreen charger receives an honorable mention in our Apple 3-in-1 charger guide. We like it for its compact and stylish design as well as the ability to charge up to 15 watts. Its main downside is the lack of a power adapter, but you could always pick one up with the savings here.
Anker’s MagGo range is just delightful for MagSafe-compatible iPhone owners. This will charge your phone on its tiltable pad at the top, which you can convert into a stand to prop the iPhone up. A small area for charging AirPods can be found there.
WIRED reviewer Eric Ravenscraft loves the cube, it is easy to see why. It is a simple way to expand your power options. The sockets and handy USB-A ports are extremely useful, and it’s all for under $20.
TVs of this high caliber (8/10, WIRED Recommends) don’t come cheap, but this is a pretty significant discount for one of the best TVs you can buy for bright rooms. If you’ve got a big family and a home with plenty of windows, this might be the move. It also has a 120-Hz refresh rate for gamers looking to get the most out of their consoles.
This TCL model is a bigger and newer version of our favorite entry-level device. It offers several TV OSs and technologies. We like the smaller model for its surprisingly deep contrast and easy-to-use remote.
This Dolby Atmos-enabled soundbar allows you to get pretty immersive sound from a single unit, thanks to speakers that bounce sound off your walls and ceiling. It is interesting that this speaker previously cost $300, but now it is only $19 from one of our top-rated audio brands.

Buying the Best Streaming Sticks for Apple, Google TV, Dolby Vision, and Siri: A Comparative Study of the WH-1000XM5 and Beats Fit Pro
Amazon’s most powerful streaming stick has a fast user interface, as well as support for the audio industry’s best-selling brands, such as Dolby Vision. Expectedly, you can control Alexa-supported devices right from this remote as well as feature your favorite apps like Netflix, Disney+, and more.
WIRED gave Apple’s newest streaming device a strong review. It received a score for its improved remote user profiles and ability to search across all of your subscriptions. It remains a pricey streaming box option, and that’s why this discount is worth a look.
The A80J is an OLED variation of one of our best TV picks, the X80J. Sony’s TV offers Google TV, Dolby Vision HDR, and Alexa compatibility. For PS5 owners, you can use HDMI 2.1 to get the best out of your console.
These are the best noise-canceling headphones on the market under $100, with NC and up to 40 hours of playtime. The sound is delivered with 40-mm silk drivers. At this low price, they are admittedly a little fragile, so you’ll have to treat them carefully.
The 2nd Gen Echo Buds (8/10, WIRED Recommends) offer solid sound, speedy pairing, and, expectedly, easy-to-use voice controls. There’s also a range of ear tips and fins to make sure you can get a comfortable and snug fit. Wireless charging in the case is also here for added convenience.
If you’re looking for a slightly fancier pair of fitness-centric earbuds, the Beats Fit Pro might be more your style. The sound quality of the Beats Fit Pro is outstanding and the fit is comfortable, which makes them the best pair of workout earbuds you can currently get. While the lack of wireless charging is a bit of a bummer at this price, the earbuds offer a host of excellent features specifically for Apple users, including dynamic head tracking for spatial audio, hand-free Siri voice commands and integration with Apple’s “Find My” network. Take a look at our review.
If you’re after the best overall headphones, stick with Sony. The WH-1000XM5 (9/10, WIRED Recommends) sound amazing, have great noise cancellation, and are just plain comfortable to wear.
The Arctis Prime wired Headset received positive marks in our review. It is one of our favorites due to its comfortable ear cups, sleek look and quality sound. It has a clear microphone, which is essential for gaming.
The Strix 30-series motherboard: an absolute monster of a PC with 120 FPS framerates, and 24th-generous graphics processing power
The 980-Series M.2 solid-state drives are some of our favorites. They’re quick, super small, and usually offer a substantial amount of storage space. One of the top picks for gaming PC builds is the Pro version, which is a bit quicker and a bit more spacious.
It may have just been supplanted by the RTX 4090, but the RTX 3090 Ti is still a super-powerful card. It’ll handle most of what you can throw at it, running games in 4K, hitting those silky-smooth 120 FPS framerates. With the 40-series announced and on its way, it’s a great time to buy high-end cards from the 30-series.
The Strix lineup of motherboards was a favorite of ours for a long time. They’re user-friendly, packed with all the right ports, and even feature some subtle lighting.
The STRIX Z590-E is more expensive than the Prime Z590. It has almost all the same features, except the M.2 slots don’t feature the same level of high-end cooling materials you get on the Strix. This one is the same as good a pick.
For people who do a lot of video editing or are interested in putting together an absolute monster of a PC, the 5900X is a great choice. It can handle a lot of things with 12-cores and 24-threads.

Best Portable Hard Disk Drive for Amazon Prime Day Laptop TV Phones: The SanDisk, Echo Show 8 and 5-MP Camera for Video-Calling
For speed, this is the best portable hard disk drive. The SanDisk is not only fast but also has top protection with a dust and water resistance case. The 2TB model gives you a lot of storage on the go.
The Echo Show 8 is our top choice, it’s just right size and has all the benefits of a smart display. This screen is great for watching videos and making video calls. It’s the perfect size to sit on any counter top and not require you get too close to read it.
This 15-inch screen is basically a blown-up smart display you can mount on your wall like a picture frame. It comes with a 5-MP camera for video-calling friends and family. You can control your smart home devices with the help of Amazon’s artificial intelligence voice assistant, dubbed “Alia.”

The Apple Watch Series 8 and the GoPro Hero Series: Amazon Kids+, RS, Dual-Lens 360-degree Cameras, and a Panda
The Apple Watch Series 8 is our favorite new Apple Watch, and it is already on sale. (The 41-mm version is also on sale for $349.) The new second-generation Watch is a great choice for the majority of people, but there are a number of additional features that make this model even better. Check our Best Apple Watch Accessories guide for additional recommendations.
All the functionality of Amazon’s Echo Dot and it looks like a panda, what more could you want? This is a kid-friendly take on the 4th generation and comes with a year of Amazon Kids+ and a range of parental controls.
There is no upgrade for the standard Echo except for the new 5th-gen model, which remains the best on offer. It’s got great sound and, despite dwarfing the Echo Dot, remains a size that isn’t all that obtrusive. A strong addition to your Alexa-laden home, or for starting a new one.
We rated Insta360’s One RS (8/10, WIRED Recommends) highly in our review. The GoPro Hero series is still our top pick as the Best Action Camera, but this one brings interchangeable modifications to the party, including—you guessed it—a dual-lens 360-degree camera.
The Best Amazon Prime Day Smart Phones Tech Deals: Work-from-Home, Smart Plug and a Smart Home Doorbell
We adore this model of TicWatch because it has the best battery life of all the Smartwatches in our guide. It will get the Wear OS 3 update later this year. It counts steps, delivers notifications, and has a two-Day battery life. There will be a new TicWatch Ultra coming with a new chip from Qualcomm.
The Best Video Doorbell Cameras guide states this doorbell received an honorable mention. It is one of the cheapest options and has a compatible smart speaker. A camera system for expanding your home network is included in the bundle.
The cheap and cheerful smart plug is a long and short one. It integrates with your Alexa app, letting you add timers and schedules as you please. This is a way to give the illusion of being home when you are traveling or on vacation.
This useful label printer is featured in our all-encompassing work-from-home guide and is a great way to save a couple of dollars on your shipping. The printer avoids the regular hassle of having to use ink, using heat instead. You’ll find useful instructions to get the sizing of your label just right.

An Overview of Deals for AirPods and Other Low-Redshift Electronics: A Trip Among Stores Near Amazon Prime Members
Some stores are competing with each other for customers and offering deals that are not required of Amazon Prime members. Here’s a list of merchants that may be getting in on the action.
If you can’t wait until then, though, fret not: we’re already beginning to see some good discounts ahead of the holiday season. Below, we’ve curated the best deals currently available on each model, including the entry-level AirPods, the AirPods Pro, the third-gen AirPods, and the AirPods Max.
You would think that the EarFun Air Pro 3 has a lot more features than cheaper earbuds. Thanks to the EarFun Audio app for both iOS and Android, the Air Pro 3 come loaded with extras — including a few things that the AirPods Pro can’t do.
Apple’s AirPods Pro 2 are the best way to cancel out background noise. They’re also better than the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro at transparency.
It is behind Apple’s transparency mode. Voices sound wetter than they do on AirPods, and you can’t hear your surroundings as clearly. The AirPods Pro can also suppress louder sounds while using transparency mode so that everything remains at a consistent volume, something the Galaxy Buds aren’t capable of.
The ANC is two times as good as the previous generation, and it is a tad shocking how well it works. If you want to hear music or podcasts at all, you have to take into account the noise suppression that these buds can provide. The windiest boardwalks, the quietest of streets, and the most chaotic of houses are not comparable.
Wireless Headphones for the Beats Studio 3 and DualSense at Amazon, Best Buy, Target, XBOX: A Deal Hunt for Cheap Skates
The W1 wireless chip in the Beats Studio 3 will let them quickly connect and switch between any Apple device you own. It is possible to use 3.5mm for a wired connection with the wireless headphones.
The wing tips on the Fit Pro earbuds keep them secure during runs and workouts. They have a good sound with the right amount of bass and kick to keep you motivated.
Attention, fellow deal hunters and cheapskates: it’s the Monday before Christmas, so if you still have gifts to buy, you’d best hurry. We will help you do that even though you’re overspending. Starting things off, Sony’s DualSense controller for the PlayStation 5 and PC is once again on sale for around $49.99 at Amazon, Best Buy, and Target. The best part about this deal is that no matter what color the dualsense is, it will be discounted.
You can choose from the stock white, midnight black, cosmic red, galactic purple, nova pink, starlight blue, and even the most recent gray camouflage. It is possible to find a controller in a hue that vividly stands out, or one that blends in and adds tension to some games. You can get all of the niceties of the dualsense, including excellent buttons, adaptive triggers and a mic and headphones. We recommend that you read our review.
There is a controller deal for XBOX players. The Recon Cloud controller is a first for Turtle Beach and is down to $69.95 at Amazon or from Turtle Beach. It is a wired controller and built-in, which is similar to the Recon wired device for XBOX and PC. It has a mount for the phone to make playing games easier on the go. It’s a great option for anyone with an Xbox Game Pass subscription, who likes to play games over the internet.
Thermostat, thermostat, speaker, and smart home automation: a review with Google Assistant and family picture-capturing technicolor
The second-gen thermostat has a seven inch screen that can adjust itself to the lighting in your room. The new version allows you to track your sleep patterns with its Soli radar chip.
The latest version of the Nest Hub makes a great gift for anyone who loves seeing family pictures since its Google Photos integration allows you to display photos from a shared album on its seven-inch touchscreen. The screen can adjust its color temperature and look like a real picture frame. Of course, it comes with Google Assistant voice controls for controlling smart home accessories, calling up some music to play on its tiny (but decent-sounding) speaker, or getting the weather.
Personally, I bought a Nest Hub for my mom last year at this time for a similar deal, and it has been a hit. I’m obviously her favorite son (right?), and this may have played a small role. We suggest reading our review.
The Buds Pro 2: an Audio Streaming Phone with LHDC-Accelerated Water Resistant Stems and Google Assistant
They slot in my ears and stay there, all while not adding any discomfort during long listening sessions. You can find ear tips in the box to assist in finding the right fit. The buds come in two colors and are made from the best type of material for earbuds, which reduces fingerprints. The Eternal Green color looks good next to my phone, and there is a black version if you want something simple.
The Buds Pro 2 can be used at the gym if they have a water resistance rating of 55. The case even has an IP rating at IPX4, giving it extra protection if you find yourself in a rain shower and need to use your earbuds.
The stems on either bud can use the Google Assistant to control content, adjust the volume, and make phone calls. This can all be done through a series of taps, swipes and presses. In my experience, it all worked as you’d expect.
I am sure you are aware of the fact that the Buds Pro 2 is going to be brought to life with the help of Hanszimmer, a renowned composer behind films like “Dune” and “The Dark Knight”. I was not able to test it out during my review period, but it will be out sometime in February. I will update the review once I have a chance to play with it.
It is nice that the only features that tie the Buds Pro 2 to the phones are the ones that are exclusive. If you want to make sure you have a good experience, it is advisable to include the logo over the back of your phone.
In order to stream audio, you need an phone that supports the LHDC codec. A lot of modern phones do, but your computer does not. It sounded a bit different when I tried it with my phone and Apple Music. The difference is indiscernible to people who have not used many pairs of earbuds before like I have, so it may be hard for you to appreciate the feature. Still, it’s there and it works well.
If you are walking in a large city and you want to keep noise down, the Buds Pro 2 is the phone for you. The settings app has a way to personalize how much noise cancellation you want.
The transparency mode worked well with the earbuds. Once enabled, I could hear my surroundings quite well, although vocals sounded a bit wetter than they do with transparency modes on other earbuds like the AirPods Pro and Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. It is very solid.
I used the Air Pro 3 for hours’ worth of phone calls, and never got any complaints about the quality of my voice. The recordings I captured with EarFun’s buds did have a bit of fuzz to them, but they were perfectly audible — and not too far behind the AirPods Pro 2 in terms of clarity.
The EarFun Air Pro 3: A Promising Audio System for Efficient Noise Cancellation and Rest Detection
To charge your earbuds, OnePlus includes a USB-C port on the back and wireless charging on the bottom. Plug them in and you will have 10 hours of listening time if you want to juice up quickly.
The buds also come with Zen Mode Air, which gives you five white noise modes to listen to when you want to relax. In addition, OnePlus includes activity level and posture reminders to help you correct your posture when sitting at an awkward angle for too long. When this feature is available I will update this review, but at the moment it is not available to test.
The same goes for the bulky charging case, which feels flimsy, takes up more pocket space than most of my other earbuds and accumulated quite a few scuffs and scratches after a few days on the road. The Air Pro 3 has good build quality but it is not as attractive as other budget buds because of its cheap audio.
No matter what I listened to with spatial audio turned on, it sounded like a cheap EQ effect that adds echoes and artificial depth to whatever you’re listening to. Movie and TV shows sound better if they have the same audio mixes as the music, as long as they do not have a difference in sound. The head tracking feature worked well but it did not improve the sound quality.
Marshall Monitor II ANC will make those shopping for noise-canceling headphones notice you. The Monitor IIs have gold buttons that are easy to use, making it easy to control your headphones. They offer warm, textured sound and silence ambient noise adequately. While they may not match some of the other headphones on this list in terms of noise-canceling effectiveness or sound quality, they can last up to 45 hours with the noise cancellation turned off. They are able to beat their rivals for 30 hours with it on.
Microsoft’s Surface Headphones 2 offer better sound quality and a cheaper price compared to the originals, thanks to the same intuitive dial controls.
When you realize exactly what the EarFun Air Pro 3 have to offer, you might think the $80 price tag is a typo. The earbuds come with great audio quality, an app with tons of personalization options, and a noise cancellation system that’s better than sets that cost triple the price. I don’t believe EarFun gets away with offering so much for so little because they are another winner from the folks behind our favorite affordable earbuds.
EarFun’s latest buds also sound fantastic, holding up equally well for my usual mix of loud punk and sad, slow indie rock. I could easily pick out each of Boygenius’ three vocalists as their voices swirled together during the emotional “Emily I’m Sorry,” and enjoyed plenty of bouncy bass and crisp guitars when jamming Paramore’s “This Is Why.” EarFun’s buds come admirably close for something that costs a fraction of their price, and there was a noticeable boost in clarity and stereo separation when I went back to my AirPods Pro.
Also, it’s a small nitpick, but I hate that the Air Pro 3 don’t automatically pause my music when I take them out of my ears (it won’t happen until they’re closed in the case). In the last few years, the most recent AirPods and most modern earbuds have become smart enough to do this, and have led to a lot of instances of music and podcasts playing even when I didn’t want them to.
The Game Mode is designed to reduce audio latency while you are gaming, but it feels like a no-nos. I haven’t noticed a change when playing Vampire survivors with and without feature on, but it was possible that serious Call of Duty orPUBG players would benefit from the boost. I was amused by the fact that you can get help from the product info page, but I appreciate that there is a way to go to the instruction manual in case you need it.
We regularly test the latest and most popular earbuds under $100 to help you save money without sacrificing great audio and features. And after trying out dozens of models, here are the two that currently stand above the rest.
For most people, the high-quality sound is probably a big enough selling point, but in case you’re looking for extras, the EarFun Air feature plenty. One of our favorite additions is an IPX7 waterproof rating, meaning they can be submerged into about 1 meter of water for about 30 minutes. We don’t often see waterproofing on devices this cheap, so of course, this came as a huge plus and one we gladly accepted. In terms of practical use cases, this means you can wear them in light rain or even while working out. Heck, you can even wash off these earbuds under the faucet without much worry. We think it works as an insurance policy for protecting your investment, even though it is not the flagship feature.
No better earbuds than the JLab Audio Go Air, which unfortunately doesn’t come with a lid unless you drop them
For most people, pressing a couple of extra buttons during the setup is well worth the savings — and we promise you will not be able to tell the difference in audio and performance.
For most people buying budget earbuds, the most important detail is the sound quality. We used a wide range of tracks to ensure that we tested just about every popular musical genre. Our list included a mixture of classic rock, with soaring guitars; classical, focused on the open space of popular sonatas; and, of course, pop and electronic to test out the bass. We wore each of the headphones for hours at a time to get a better feeling for how they fit. We also did our best to analyze each device’s controls, and how reliable and customizable they were.
We need to emphasize that EarFun earbuds are not all created the same. The EarFun Free have decent sound quality and a reasonable six hours of battery life, with 24 extra hours available in the charging case. The sound quality and comfort were not as good as their higher-priced counterparts.
We encourage you to look for a worse pair of earbuds on the market. Let’s start with the case, which doesn’t even come with a lid. Yes, you read that right. The JLab Audio Go Air use magnets to connect the earbuds to the charging case, with the assumption that you’ll never drop or jolt them hard enough to knock them out. We have never dropped or lost the earbuds during our testing period, but it seems like a disaster waiting to happen.
Let’s assume you don’t drop them and you want to set them up with your phone. Good luck! We had to reconnect these headphones several times just to get them working properly. There was a setup that should have taken 30 seconds. When they finally connected, we were disappointed to realize it was all for naught. These earbuds practically ruined Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy” for us. There was a complete lack of soundspace, depth and range. We don’t think we’ve heard anything worse than these earbuds. Please, no matter what you decide, avoid these earbuds at all costs. You are deserving of better.
You would think Skullcandy would give better-sounding earbuds, with all of their marketing and celebrity endorsements. The Skullcandy Sesh earbuds were disappointing. Usually it’s easy to justify the lack of performance because Skullcandy headphones typically look cool, but these earbuds are so small and hard to see that they’re far from a fashion statement.
The sound was fine — not terrible — but lacked bass on some of our favorite dance and disco songs. The sound quality wasn’t balanced out because the highs were a little too high. The bad battery life of your earbuds along with the bad microphone makes them even less good for the clearance rack.
