Naomi Osaka doesn’t play in the Australian Open.

The last grand slam star of the tournament: a photo of Osaka at a pilate studio in New Zealand and a film about her experience in the US House of Representatives

With the Australian Open less than two weeks away, a host of the sport’s top players are getting their final touches for the grand slam.

Osaka is in the entry list for the tournament but on Wednesday she reposted an image that was said to show her in a US-based pilates studio. It’s not clear whether the photo was taken then or now.

The four-time grand slam champion has spent some time in Europe and on December 28th she posted a collection of photos from her trip, including a picture with partner Cordae in the Louvre museum.

The former world No. 1 is not listed to play in warm up tournaments in Adelaide or Hobart next week. The heat of Australia in the summer helps players acclimatize to it.

Osaka subsequently pulled out of the French Open that year and revealed she had “suffered long bouts of depression” since winning her first major championship in 2018.

Away from the court, the star has immersed herself in other ventures – the 25 year-old said she was enjoying “being productive” in a post to Twitter on December 20th.

She produced a short film regarding the first woman of color to be elected to the United States House of Representatives.

Carlos Alcaraz – the youngest grand slam winner to win a major tournament and question marks over the fitness of Iga Swiaaky and Emma Raducanu

Men’s world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz is out with a leg injury, he said on Friday. He would have been the youngest to win a grand slam when he won the US Open in September.

Meanwhile, there are question marks over the fitness of Britain’s Emma Raducanu and women’s world No. 1 Iga Swiaaky pulled out of the International 2 tournament because of a shoulder injury.
